Week 1B

Today in class, we covered a bit on Operative Systems. Their origins and where we stand today, with PC being more widely used and Apple as the premium hardware/software. Today developers create apps for all platforms.
The workflow should be all about efficiency. Notes on Introductory terms and Apple short cuts will be useful throughout the class. We talked about e-mail guidelines, file sizes and formats, and an Intro to Adobe Illustrator. My first AI exercise in class was to create an illustration 8.5 x 11 of at least 100 black circles. Overlap was allowed. My inspiration for this assignment was the Danish fabric design from the 60s and 70s. Here's the final image:

To create this image, I used the ellipse tool, then chose black for the fill and white for the stroke. I continued to make perfect circles of different sizes, by selecting the ellipse tool and combining the option + shift keys while dragging the cursor. For several of the circles I changed the size of the stroke from 1 point to 8 to create variety and dynamism in the composition. It is a vertical format, asymmetrical, abstract, with repetition, and variety.

Week 1A

I just created my first brand new blog. I've been thinking of doing this for a long time. It seems that I needed to sign up for a Digital Theory & Skills class to get that overdue kick.
Yesterday was the first day of class. Meet and greet, presentations, a lot to absorbe. The class received the syllabus and instructions to open a blog here through gmail, sing-up for a Lynda.com account, and... looked at various websites with info on upcoming events. Visited centralpa.aiga.org. In order to attend to the events listed on this website, I must register to AIGA. A little note taking. Here are the shots.
